The British Association and Irish zoos and aquariums (Biasa in English), held an event at Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire which awarded the Durrell Wildlife Conservation with Zoo Oscar, the highest recognition in the category.
A Associação Britânica e Irlandesa de Zoos e Aquários (BIASA em inglês), realizou um evento no Woburn Safari Park em Bedfordshire que premiou a Durrell Wildlife Conservation com o Zoo Oscar, o reconhecimento máximo da categoria.
The highlight of this award was working with frog originating from the Caribbean islands of Dominica and Montserrat, known as mountain chicken. There is a great research work in partnership with the zoos in London, Chester, Swedish Nordens Ark and the governments of the islands and, with the captive breeding program, the numbers of the “population” of threatened amphibian are increasing.
O destaque dessa premiação foi o trabalho com o sapo originário das ilhas caribenhas de Dominica e Montserrat, conhecido como mountain chicken. Há um grande trabalho de pesquisa em parceria com os zoológicos de Londres, Chester, o sueco Nordens Arca e os governos das ilhas, e, com o programa de reprodução em cativeiro, os números da “população” do anfíbio ameaçado estão aumentando.
The charge of the project, Mark Brayshaw, said that “there is still a long way to ensure the survival of threatened amphibian and it is only through collaborative conservation partnerships like this, we have a chance of success.”
O responsável pelo projeto, Mark Brayshaw, conta que “ainda há um longo caminho para assegurar a sobrevivência deste ameaçado anfíbio e é só através de parcerias colaborativas de conservação como esta, que temos uma chance de sucesso”.
